The Boyd Cycling 36 Road Disc SL Rear Wheel delivers a balanced ride feel and confident handling, resulting in a lightweight performance wheel built for everyday road riding.
This wheel is engineered from carbon ply through final spoke tension to deliver ultra-low weight with the stability, durability, and serviceability expected from Boyd Cycling. The rim features a hooked rim bed designed for road and all-road use. With the higher pressures used for those tires, a hooked rim more securely holds the tire in place in the event of hitting a pothole or extreme forces of cornering and sprinting.
Cutting grams without cutting corners involves a strategic layup where every carbon ply has a job. Fiber orientation and placement put material where loads live and remove it where it does not. Aerospace grade carbon fiber is used in strategic areas to increase strength and impact resistance while allowing the rim weight to be minimized to just 310 grams. The build process includes multiple tension cycles, stress relief, and final balance checks to ensure the wheel remains true.
The Grade 54 hubs are the most advanced hubs Boyd Cycling has created. Weighing just 270 grams for the set, these hubs feature a straight pull flange and a high-strength steel ratchet drive system with 54 teeth and 6.6 degrees of engagement. Enduro ABEC 5 bearings provide exceptional precision and durability, ensuring the hub operates smoothly under demanding conditions.
